A rough draft first chapter and a layout for the whole 25th Anniversary book have been prepared for designers and printers to start thinking about while I and the team of volunteers are gathering interviews from a number of people involved in the Trust’s formation and its last 25 years. The first ever Football in the Community Officers John McDermott (now at Spurs) and Jimmy Gilligan (now at the FA) have talked about their early days in post. Ann Swanson has told us tales of the family enclosure in the 70s and 80s, Caroline Gillies and Ed Coan described their marketing and PR initiatives – including nearly including a dog on the team sheet. Oliver Phillips has shared his perspective as the former editor of the Watford Observer and many more are to follow. It’s a mass of material but beginning to take shape.
